CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 entered into force and progressively replaced:
- the Directive 67/548/EEC on Classification, Packaging and Labelling of Dangerous Substances
- the Directive 1999/45/EC on Classification, Packaging and Labelling of Dangerous Preparations

Since its adoption, the regulation has been amended on several occasion, most recently by Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/707.
Most of the amendments that have been made are related to the regulation’s annexes.
